First Light
This morning I hiked about 400 yards from the parking lot of Great Falls to the upper area of the falls. The not so long hike consists of a wooden fence, a 20 foot stream and lots of unstable rocks. That's not bad right? Well when you're carrying 30lbs of gear and all of those features are slathered with a layer of ice under the snow it becomes a different story. Oh and it was 5 degrees with a wind chill of -10. The only time I've had gnarlier conditions was in Switzerland. I can't believe I just compared Virginia to Switzerland. I had my snowboard gear on and after about an hour of shooting time lapses, I had to return to the jeep.

Timelapse Season?
Conditions maybe not be ideal to the average person but I drove over the Potomac River yesterday and saw that the river had some mini icebergs floating and thought it would be amazing to shoot them floating down stream with the sun light beaming on them. I showed up this AM with 8 degree temps and everything I saw moving yesterday was now frozen. I take back when I said I'm holding off doing any time-lapse shoots until March, this stuff is pure gold.

Off Season
It's currently 5 degrees here in the Washington D.C. area. I have no plans on going out shooting time-lapse until March unless it's a paid gig. In the mean time I have a number of Pacers Running Store projects lined up that will keep me busy for a good part of 2014.
